The “Let’s Help Together” Foundation, with the financial support of CORE partners, succeeded in replacing 100 balcony units in the Lviv Geriatric Boarding House. As part of the project, new windows, doors and slopes were installed inside the rooms.
The replacement of windows completed the cycle of energy modernization of the residential building, because part of the rooms, the entrance group and the windows in the corridor in the boarding house were replaced with funds from the regional budget.
“We are really worried about the final result. I would not like to simply replace the old windows with new ones, I would really like to add more comfort to the lives of the residents. New high-quality windows are not only about preserving heat in winter, but also about the possibility of airing rooms in the summer season, because the old windows were nailed and covered with film, which made ventilation impossible. And as a result, it had an impact on people’s health. And here live people with limited mobility who need constant care and comfortable living conditions. The work is finally finished – and that’s the most important thing! They checked, asked – people really got better! And for us, this is the main indicator,” the fund noted.
In total, more than 300 elderly people and persons with disabilities live in the building, of which about 60 are internally displaced persons.
