Queues at the border: overloaded checkpoints on entry to Ukraine

Significant queues are being recorded at certain checkpoints on Ukraine’s western border, both for entry into and exit from the country. Drivers are advised, where possible, to choose less congested routes.

As of now, the following queues are reported for entry into Ukraine:

  • Hruszów checkpoint – around 20 cars;
  • Krakivets – approximately 100 cars and 12 buses;
  • Shehyni – roughly 60 cars and 3 buses.

At the same time, the checkpoints Uhryniv, Rava-Ruska, Smilnytsia and Nyzhankovychi remain uncongested for entry into Ukraine.

For exit from Ukraine, a build-up of vehicles has been recorded at the following checkpoints:

  • Uhryniv – around 30 cars;
  • Rava-Ruska – around 30 cars;
  • Hruszów – around 20 cars;
  • Krakivets – approximately 60 cars;
  • Shehyni – around 25 cars;
  • Nyzhankovychi – around 30 cars.

There is no build-up of passenger cars for exit from Ukraine at the Smilnytsia checkpoint. On bus services for exit from Ukraine at the Krakivets checkpoint, 3 buses are currently waiting.

Border guards recommend that drivers planning to cross the border, where possible, choose less congested checkpoints and follow updates on the situation at the border on the official Facebook pages of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment.
