Hydrological Situation in the Rivers of Lviv Region: Overview and Forecasts

As of February 22, 2026, the hydrological situation in the rivers of the Lviv region remains stable.

According to the hydrometeorological network, 0 to 2 mm of precipitation fell in the last 24 hours. On most rivers in the Dniester basin, water levels dropped by 1-12 cm. Only on some mountain tributaries, due to the thaw, water levels increased by 3-7 cm, in some places up to 16 cm, as on the Orava River near the village of Sviatoslav.

On the plain rivers of the Sian and Western Bug basins, slight fluctuations in water levels within 1-6 cm were observed, with a tendency towards decrease. On some rivers, ice phenomena in the form of ice jams and frazil ice were observed, with some areas retaining ice cover while other sections of the rivers cleared of ice.

In the coming day, due to the thaw, water levels are expected to decrease on most rivers in the Dniester basin. In the rest of the region’s rivers, a gradual increase in water levels and weakening of ice phenomena will be observed, with some rivers clearing of ice.

As of 08:00 on February 22, the snow cover height in the mountains of the Lviv region at Turka and Slavske did not exceed 3 cm.
