The issue of the operation of the video surveillance system in Chervonohrad was considered by the participants of the meeting, which was chaired by Deputy Mayor Taras Tyrk.
The purpose of the meeting was to clarify the functionality and expediency of supplementing video surveillance cameras with an analytics system. In total, 67 video surveillance cameras are installed on the territory of the city, which work around the clock. The image from them is submitted to the server of the Chervonograd District Police Department. As the head of the district police department Ihor Pidluzhny reported, the efficiency of the use of equipment is essential, since it is possible to respond to offenses, to record the moments when crimes are committed and to promptly disclose them. During the two and a half months since Ihor Pidluzhny was in office, 10 crimes were solved using the video surveillance system. One of the most resonant is the arson of the state security service.
According to Mykhailo Lapets, deputy of the Chervonograd city council, it is important to monitor traffic on city roads when the greatest loads are observed, to determine their cause, in order to relieve the traffic.
The deputy mayor of Chervonograd, Taras Tyrko, asked the opinion of the head of the district police department whether the funds spent on the analytics system would really be the best option for investing in the city’s security. “If we talk about the safety of the city’s residents, adding analytics to surveillance cameras is the most effective option,” Ihor Pidluzhny noted during the meeting.
