Smuggling of excise goods was stopped at the border with Poland.
At the Krakivets-Korchova checkpoint, a vehicle from Poland was driven by a Ukrainian citizen. The driver chose the ‘green corridor’ lane for customs control, declaring that he was not carrying any prohibited or taxable goods.
However, during the vehicle inspection, customs officials found concealed excise goods – electronic cigarettes ‘roqy 40000’ in various assortments, totaling 840 pieces, and 17 pairs of Apple AirPods Pro headphones. The goods were hidden in the spare wheel compartment, under the hood, and in the charger compartment, covered with a plastic lid.
A protocol was drawn up against the violator under part 1 of article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine for illegally transporting goods with concealment from customs control. A report on this fact, which bears signs of a criminal offense under article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transportation with the purpose of selling excise goods), was sent to the State Bureau of Investigation in the Lviv region. The approximate value of the seized goods is about 825 thousand UAH.
