Lindens, maples and bitter chestnuts: almost a thousand trees and more than 6 thousand bushes will be planted in Lviv

As reported in the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv City Council, a total of 940 trees and 6,238 bushes will be planted on the city’s streets and parks.

“Despite the war, the traditional autumn landscaping campaign continues in the city. Maples-sycamores and rowan trees, bitter chestnuts and lindens, alders and sycamores, Chantecler pears and Lucas hornbeams, larches and firs will create shade in the parks and streets of Lviv.

Every district of the city is greened. And the record holder for the number of plants planted this year is the Lychakiv district – 158 new trees and almost one and a half thousand bushes will grow here. It is followed by Sykhivskyi district – 156 trees and 627 bushes and Frankivskyi – 136 and 378, respectively,” the urban planning department reported.

The peculiarity of this year’s green campaign, according to Oksana Lutsko, the deputy head of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources, is that most of the plants planted on the streets of the city were purchased with the funds of patrons and sponsors. After all, because of the war, all capital expenditures are prohibited. Yes, thanks to the caring people of Lviv, 24 autropurpurea sycamore maples appeared on Svoboda Avenue.

Instead, over 500 trees and bushes have already been planted in the parks and squares of LKP “Green Lviv” and its subsidiaries together with gardeners of Lviv.

In particular, rosemary-leaved willow, sod, yarrow, larches and alder trees are now growing in the Nut Grove. Hawthorns and Chanteclair pears, weeping willows will bloom in the “Sand Lakes” park in the spring. And in the “700th Anniversary of Lviv” park, three Lucas hornbills appeared.

By the end of the year, almost one and a half thousand green plants will be planted in the parks.
