In the Lviv region, eight fires in ecosystems covering an area of over 3 hectares were extinguished over the course of the day. Fire and rescue units urge people to avoid burning dry vegetation, as such fires can quickly spread, destroying ecosystems and threatening residential and commercial buildings.
There is particular danger in windy conditions when the fire can rapidly engulf large areas. Fines are imposed for unauthorised burning of dry vegetation: from 3,060 to 6,120 UAH for individuals, and from 15,300 to 21,420 UAH for officials. In the event of a fire, the public is urged to call “101” for immediate response.
