In the Lviv region, a suspect will be tried for the illegal transportation of individuals to Slovakia.
As established by the police, the accused, a 43-year-old resident of Drohobych district, illegally transported conscripted individuals across the state border of Ukraine outside of border checkpoints in the Transcarpathian region during martial law.
The perpetrator was exposed by the investigators of the Sambir District Police Department of the Lviv region in collaboration with the operatives of the Migration Police Department in Lviv and the operatives of the 7th Border Carpathian Detachment, under the procedural leadership of the Sambir District Prosecutor’s Office.
It was established that the suspect had developed a detailed plan and route for the illegal crossing of the border, provided the “clients” with instructions on the procedure during the transition into the neighboring country, and organized their delivery to the crossing point.
On April 8, law enforcement officers detained the subject under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after he received a sum of 12,000 dollars from a “client.”
During sanctioned searches in the vehicle and at the suspect’s residence, cash obtained from illegal activities, communication devices, and other material evidence of involvement in the crime were discovered and seized.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings, initiated under parts 2 and 3 of Article 332 (Illegal Transportation of Persons across the State Border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, has been completed. The indictment has been sent for court review.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment by imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property.
