The hydrological situation on the rivers of Lviv region is changing due to weather conditions.
According to the hydrometeorological network, up to 5 mm of precipitation fell in the Lviv region. On most rivers of the Dniester basin, water levels continued to rise by 1 – 18 cm, only on the mountain tributaries of the Dniester was a drop in water levels noted by 1 – 17 cm, in some places up to 33 cm (HR R.Rybnik – village Maydan). On the flat rivers of the basins of the San, Western Bug and at the headwaters of the Styr rivers, slight fluctuations in water levels up to 8 cm per day with a predominance of rise were observed.
Due to the thaw, weakening and destruction of the ice cover were noted on the rivers of the Dniester basin, while on the flat rivers of the region, ice cover persisted in some places and ice phenomena were maintained in the form of ice edges, while some sections of the river cleared of ice.
Consultation on the change in the hydrological situation on the rivers of Lviv region reports that in the next day, slight fluctuations in water levels will be observed on the rivers of the region: on the rivers of the Dniester basin – with a predominance of decline; on the flat rivers of the region – with a predominance of rise. Due to the gradual decrease in air temperature, some intensification of ice phenomena will be noted on the rivers of Lviv region.
As of 08:00 on February 09, the height of the snow cover in the mountains of Lviv region at M Turka and M Slavsko was 1 – 7 cm. On February 09 – 11, low avalanche danger (level 1) is expected in the mountains of the Lviv region.
