The traffic accident occurred on January 2, around 3:20 p.m., in the village of Yalinkuvate, Stryi District
As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the GAZ-66 car, a 46-year-old local resident, while driving on a downhill country road, lost control and drove into a ditch, where the truck overturned.
The passenger of the car, a 73-year-old local resident, died at the scene of the injuries sustained as a result of the accident. The driver of the vehicle was injured and taken to the hospital.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years or without it.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
