Water Levels Expected to Rise in Lviv Region

The Lviv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology of Ukraine warns about changes in the hydrological situation.

“From February 12 to 14, due to thawing, a gradual rise in water levels above the normal levels, without negative consequences, is expected,” the center reports. In the rivers of the Dniester basin in the Lviv region, the water level will rise by 0.2 – 1 m, and in the rivers of the Western Bug sub-basin by 0.1 – 0.5 m.

In areas of the rivers with ice cover, weakening and destruction of ice phenomena will occur. Ice drift may occur in some places, which could lead to the formation of ice jams with sharp fluctuations in water levels.
