We sadly announce that today, on Sunday, 16.11.2025, in the morning, we lost a true keeper of memory. Roman Horak — a writer, researcher, scientist, cultural figure, and Shevchenko Prize laureate — passed away.
He was born in the small town of Horodok but became a great patriot of his native land, a living voice of its history. Throughout his life, Roman Horak wrote hundreds of articles and several dozen books — among them ‘Horodok: Sketches from the History of Horodok’, which became a fundamental chronicle of his ancestral land.
Our hearts are pierced with the pain of loss, but also with gratitude — for the example of profound love for Ukraine and its people!
The funeral of Roman Horak will take place on 18.11.2025 at 10:00 at the church of Archangel Michael (Lviv, Vinnychenka St. 22). Following this, a return to the Horodok he cherished. The last farewell ceremony will be held at the Annunciation Church (Horodok, Kotsyubynskoho St. 5). Afterwards, burial will take place at the Horodok City Cemetery (Horodok, Sichovykh Striltsiv St.).
May the memory of this great son of the Horodok land be bright and eternal!
