“The blow was so powerful that it moved all the stone blocks. Therefore, in order to carry out repair and restoration works, almost 2/3 of the gate will have to be dismantled to the base, the cracked blocks will have to be replaced with new ones, and then all the elements will be assembled again.
We hope that the driver who damaged the gate will pay for all the repairs. The directorate of LKP “Museum “Lychakiv Cemetery” handed over relevant materials from video surveillance cameras to law enforcement officers. The police will also be provided with a preliminary estimate for the work,” Marianna Moroz said.
In addition, the gate from the street Shimzeriv was built in 1901 in the Neo-Gothic style from sandstone. On the gate there is a medallion with the image of the Mother of God, by Emil Shredl. The last repair and restoration work of this gate was carried out in 2015.
