At the Uhryniv border checkpoint, border guards from the Lviv detachment, in collaboration with customs officers, uncovered a smuggling attempt involving 424 iPhones concealed within the structural elements of a Mercedes vehicle.
The driver, born in 1989, was traveling from Poland to Ukraine and chose the “green corridor” lane, which is intended for travelers without declared goods. However, customs officers discovered smartphones, including iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models, meticulously hidden under the van’s upholstery.
Each phone was individually wrapped in plastic and neatly arranged. The preliminary valuation of the undeclared goods amounts to approximately $500,000.
The seizure was carried out by customs officials in cooperation with the 7th Border Guard Carpathian Detachment.
