
On Shevchenka Street in Lviv, a private oversized special-purpose lorry transporting an oversized load tore down the tram overhead contact line. As a result, trams on route No. 7 are temporarily running only as far as St Anne’s Church. The incident was reported by LKP “Lvivelektrotrans”.
According to the company, at approximately 10:00 on 22 June 2026, while the special transport was moving, a support and the wires of the tram overhead contact line were damaged. The sagging and broken wires fell onto the carriageway, and the large vehicle with its load stopped in the middle of the road.
Emergency crews from “Lvivelektrotrans” are working at the scene to restore the infrastructure. According to preliminary estimates, repair work may take up to three hours, after which full tram services on route No. 7 are expected to resume along the usual route.
“On Shevchenka Street, at the entrance to the terminus of tram route No. 7, there has been a break in the contact wire. A special-purpose vehicle was transporting an oversized load and tore down the tram’s overhead line. Emergency crews are currently working on repairs. The work is expected to last until about 3 p.m. During this time, trams No. 7 are running only as far as St Anne’s Church,” LKP “Lvivelektrotrans” reported.
