In Lviv, police investigate criminal proceedings over explosion that occurred during entertaining chemical experiment
Three children and an animator were injured in the explosion.
According to law enforcement officers, on the evening of 17 August, a flask of dry ice exploded in a Lviv sports and entertainment complex during a chemical experiment conducted by an entertainer.
Four people were injured in the incident: three visitors – two 9-year-old boys, a 10-year-old girl, and a 32-year-old animator. They were taken to hospital.
Investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, initiated criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 137 (Improper performance of duties to protect the life and health of children) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for a fine of one thousand to four thousand tax-free minimum incomes, or restraint of liberty for up to three years, or imprisonment for the same term, with or without disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
A pre-trial investigation is underway, and law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
