Quarantine was imposed on the territory of the village of Hrushiv of the Medenytsk community, which is located in the Drohobytsky district of the Lviv region, due to a dog suffering from rabies. The decision to introduce the quarantine was made by the extraordinary anti-epizootic commission, which operates under the Drogobitsky district military administration.
At the beginning of March, one dog died due to rabies, after which the veterinary service went to the site and disinfected the area. As a result, laboratory examination confirmed the presence of rabies in the animal.
In this regard, the commission decided to establish quarantine restrictions for 2 months in the village of Hrushiv and on the adjacent territory within a radius of 5 km. Quarantine restrictions will be lifted only after the implementation of all the necessary measures provided for in the instructions for the prevention and control of animal rabies.
By March 30, 2023, the head of the Hrushiv settlement council must catch stray animals, and residents are urged to keep their dogs on a leash or in special enclosures. Permanent veterinary control of animals was also established on the territory of the village, and animals susceptible to the disease will be vaccinated against rabies in the region.
