The Mother and Child Center “Unbreakable Mothers”, which was built in Lviv for pregnant displaced women who fled the war, opened its doors. Tatyana and Anna became the first mothers who signed an individual contract for living in the Center. Yesterday, the women were given the keys to the rooms in which they will live with their families.
Tatyana came to Lviv from the town of Starobilsk, in the Luhansk region. Together with her, the family moved here – seven-year-old son Yehor and mother-in-law. Her husband serves after rotation in the border troops – he was on the front lines from the first days of the war.
Since March, Tetyana and her family lived in one of the Lviv lyceums. She is due to give birth in about a month, so the woman was worried about where she and the baby would live. Tatyana was offered to move to the “Unbreakable Mothers” center.
“It’s just great here! Everything is ecological, there are all conditions. My son likes it here too. He has already chosen the bed on which he will sleep. It will be convenient for him to teach lessons here, because he is already in the second grade. She was very worried about the newborn child. And here, even, there will be medical support. A huge number of problems disappear after moving here,” said Tatyana.
Her husband is also pleased.
“Now I will be calm for my whole family. And I will not think in the trenches, where they live and what is happening to them. I will soon return to the service and I am happy that my family will be taken care of in Lviv,” said Vladyslav.
Anna is also pleased with the opportunity to settle in the Mother and Child Center. Together with her two-year-old daughter Milena, she came to Lviv from Lysychansk, which is currently being shelled by the Russians. In Lviv, she rented a room in which there was not even an individual bathroom: the woman lacked funds for other housing.
“I really liked this place. Everything is here, all the benefits. Good infrastructure. I am convinced that I, my girl, and the boy, whose birth I expect in October, will be happy here,” said Anna.
In total, more than 100 people (pregnant or mothers with children) will be able to live in the houses at the same time.
We will remind you that the Mother and Child Center “Unbreakable Mothers” are two houses for pregnant resettled women, which were built in the Glynyansky Tract area. For the women, the houses were built from wooden structures assembled on site. The experience from the USA was taken as a basis. The total area of two two-story buildings is 1300 m2. In each of them, the conditions for the comfortable temporary settlement of pregnant women who have the status of internally displaced persons have been arranged. And next to the housing, walkways, viewing and children’s playgrounds and even a lake were built. Lviv architects designed the houses. The work was carried out by an Odesa company that moved to Lviv after the war.
