Kermanych Podvody, the father of the injured children, was in a state of alcohol intoxication – doctors found 1.7 ppm of alcohol in his blood.
According to the law enforcement officers, on October 4, around 7:40 p.m., near the village of Sushno in the Chervonograd district, two minor children – a boy and a girl, local residents, 8 years old – fell out of a puddle. As a result of the fall, the schoolchildren received injuries and were taken to the hospital.
During the examination, it was also established that the driver of the truck, the 44-year-old father of traumatized children, was in a drunken state – doctors found 1.7 ppm of alcohol in his blood. According to him, the horses got scared and ran away, and the children could not hold on to the cart and fell out.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Chervonograd district police department opened criminal proceedings under Article 291 (Violation of the rules in force on transport) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for a term of up to five years.
The pre-trial investigation continues, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
