Domazhyr is preparing for the opening of the new tourist season in 2024, which will take place on March 1.
The Domazhyr bear shelter invites you to the opening of the tourist season. The shelter will be open from Wednesday to Saturday, from 09:00-18:00. Visits will be possible only if accompanied by a guide and by appointment.
As of now, 28 bears live here, which were rescued from bad habitats, such as hunting baiting stations, hotels, restaurants, circuses, and private menageries.
The bear shelter is not only a place where rescued bears live, but also a large educational and recreational space. A convenient infrastructure with parking for cars and bicycles has been built for visitors. The shelter has a cafe “Med ta Yahoda” with gazebos where you can taste local cuisine, including Yavoriv pie, which was included in the intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine.
In addition, on March 1, the exhibition room “Two Worlds” will open. It aims to show the terrible conditions of keeping and exploitation of bears in captivity against the contrast of happy animals in their natural environment.

The shelter is located at 1 Vedmezhyi Krai St., Zhornyska village. The shelter is accessible by the “Visit to the Bears” bicycle route, which starts in Lviv from the High Castle and runs through the countryside, and in the city by bicycle infrastructure. The route is 26 km long. In addition, in 2023, a 6 km long ecological trail “Picturesque Roztochia” was opened here.
