The city’s security department reminds us that it is forbidden to park cars on pedestrian crossings and closer than 10 metres to a zebra.
For such a violation, the driver risks receiving a fine, and the car may be towed to the impound lot. Thus, since the beginning of the year, 1,597 drivers have been brought to administrative responsibility for stopping at crosswalks.
“Parking at crosswalks is not only a violation of traffic rules, but also a serious threat to pedestrian safety. A crosswalk is a place where pedestrians have the right to cross the road safely, and any car parked there reduces the visibility of a person and increases the risk of a road accident.
Every day, parking inspectors identify such violators, bring them to administrative responsibility, and, if technically possible, move their vehicles to the impound lot using a tow truck.
“We urge drivers to follow the traffic rules and be attentive to pedestrian safety,” the Lviv City Council’s safety department said.
In total, since the beginning of the year, parking inspectors have issued 28,902 fines for violations of the rules of stopping/parking cars totalling UAH 9.5 million.
In addition, 1,000 vehicles were evacuated to the impound lot due to parking violations.
In total, since the beginning of the year, the city treasury has received UAH 10.9 million from the payment of fines for improper parking. This includes funds from the payment of fines issued in 2023. It is worth noting that the funds from the payment of fines for improper parking are used, in particular, for the needs of our military.
As a reminder, parking inspectors have been working in Lviv for six years. They monitor compliance with traffic rules in terms of stopping, parking and paying for parking services on the streets and in other public places. The inspectors’ work is primarily aimed at preventing illegal parking, improving the discipline of paying for paid parking services, and promptly detaining vehicles that create a significant obstacle for other road users.
