Lviv Regional Council Supported the Naming of Educational Institutions

A meeting of the education, science, and innovation commission took place in the Lviv Regional Council, where important issues were discussed.

One of the key decisions was the approval of draft resolutions to name the Lviv Regional Minor Academy of Sciences for Youth after Ihor Yukhnovskyi and the Vynnyky Scientific Lyceum after Ivan Ohienko. Ivan Ohienko was a renowned linguist and Bible translator who lived in Vynnyky in the 1920s.

The commission also supported an appeal to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine regarding the improvement of the lyceum network and discussed the problem of funding shortages for energy resources in educational institutions. “Funds from the special fund should go towards development, not paying for energy resources. If there’s a shortage, it’s a result of budget miscalculations. We receive letters from educational institutions and are at a loss. There will be a meeting with the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration on this issue on Wednesday, and there is great hope that this budget gap will finally be filled. Turning off the lights in educational institutions is unacceptable,” said the Deputy Chair of the Standing Commission Paraskeviya Dvoryanyn.

All conclusions reached during the meeting will be sent for further consideration by the session of the Lviv Regional Council.
