Lviv Schools to Start Senior School Reform a Year Early

Three Lviv educational institutions will launch a pilot senior school reform a year earlier than others.

By 2026, the ‘Leader’ school, school No. 84, and the Linguistic Gymnasium will begin implementing a new 12-year program. Students of these schools will be able to study under the new program, abandoning the current 11-year one. They will appreciate the benefits of the reform by having the opportunity to choose their field of study and focus on selected subjects.

“We invite current ninth graders, who wish to study in specialized classes of academic lyceums starting next year, to contact their school administrations and join the pilot. You will become the only graduates of 2029, which will bring you several advantages,” said Andriy Zakalyuk, director of the Department of Education and Culture of Lviv City Council.

The head of the city’s educational development department, Olesya Mandzyuk, added that participants of the pilot will obtain a bachelor’s degree after three years of university studies. The reform will allow them to complete university simultaneously with their peers from other schools.
