During the autumn holidays, pupils in Years 2–4 at Lviv schools will be able to attend swimming lessons free of charge in school pools. The sessions are being organised at 18 educational institutions in different districts of Lviv, and participation is only possible with prior registration.
According to the Department of Education and Culture of the Lviv City Council, most sessions are scheduled for the period from 26 to 30 October. The exact timetable for each pool is indicated in the relevant registration form.
During the lessons, children will do exercises in the water, including using special kickboards. The city’s Department of Education emphasises that such sessions are part of schools’ systematic work to teach children to swim.
“Swimming for our children is not a one-off activity, but a fully-fledged part of school life. During the holidays we traditionally give this opportunity even more space: so that a child can come to a school that has a pool, learn to swim, spend time actively and, at the same time, gain a skill that really can come in handy in life,” said Andrii Zakaliuk, Director of the Department of Education and Culture of the Lviv City Council.
To take part in the lessons, a child must have a swimsuit or swimming trunks, a cap if needed, a towel, personal hygiene products, as well as a medical certificate in the form No. 086/o with a note confirming they are allowed to attend the pool.
The number of places in each pool is limited. If the registration form for a particular location is no longer available, it means that registration there has closed. Parents are advised not to delay registering.
