In Lviv Oblast, about 7,000 primary school students will receive school meals under the conditions of co-financing from the funds of the UN program

These are students of 41 educational institutions of the region.

The World Food Program of the United Nations implements the school feeding program in general secondary education institutions. Lviv Oblast is also involved in this process and will receive 14,625.8 thousand hryvnias this year.

As Oleg Demkiv, director of the finance department of the Lviv Regional State Administration, noted, the first tranche in the amount of UAH 913.3 thousand has already been directed to 16 schools from 10 territorial communities of the region, among them the educational institutions of Borynska, Brodivska, Krasnenska, Lopatyska, Mostyska, Pidkaminska, Rava-Ruska, Radekhivska, Skolivska, Sudovyshnyanska communities.

The UN food program provides 30 percent of daily hot lunches for students in grades 1-4. The average cost of lunch in regional schools varies between 35-40 hryvnias.

As a reminder, Lviv region is one of the 11 regions of Ukraine that receive financial assistance within the framework of the UN World Food Program. According to the Agreement on the initiation of the school feeding program, signed in November 2023, financial support will be provided to 18 institutions of general secondary education in the Lviv region. In January 2024, the list of schools was expanded by adding 23 more institutions from Sambirsk and Stryi communities. In total, about 7,000 students of grades 1-4 of 41 educational institutions of the Lviv region will receive hot meals under the conditions of co-financing from the funds of the UN program.
