
At the meeting of the Commission on Education, Science and Innovation of the Lviv Regional Council on 3 September, members considered the issue of increasing pay for technical and service staff of municipal institutions subordinate to the Regional Council. Deputies heard from representatives of the Lviv Regional Military Administration regarding the step-by-step algorithm for raising salaries, taking into account the proposals of the heads of the institutions.
Members of the commission also discussed the readiness of educational institutions in Lviv region for the 2026/2027 academic year and the implementation of the Regional Education Development Programme for the first half of 2026. As a separate block, they examined the state and needs of vocational education, in particular the formation of the regional order for the Y. P. Stanko Art Vocational School, Vocational School No. 8 in Stryi, and the Sheptytskyi Vocational College of Energy and Technology.
Participants in the meeting touched upon the topic of health and recreation for schoolchildren, and summed up the results of the All-Ukrainian children and youth military-patriotic game “Sokil” (“Dzhura”). Among other issues were the results of an internal audit at the Sheptytskyi Vocational College, provision of backup power supply for the Lviv Professional College of Sport, the purchase of ophthalmological equipment for the Levenia Educational and Rehabilitation Centre, and the emergency condition of the wall near the Zhovkva Zlahoda Educational and Rehabilitation Centre.
The commission also considered appeals and submissions regarding the Regional Award named after Hero of Ukraine Stepan Bandera, including the candidates nominated for the distinction.
“Today the commission considered important issues in the field of education, in particular changes to approaches to remuneration of staff, bonuses, and the readiness of educational institutions for the new academic year. We heard about problematic issues concerning accommodation in halls of residence. We also planned for the next meeting of the commission to be held on site at the Sheptytskyi Vocational College of Energy and Technology,” said Paraskoviia Dvoryanyn.
