Three more flats to be purchased for orphans in Lviv region

In Lviv region, approval has been given for the purchase of three more flats for individuals from among orphans and children deprived of parental care. The corresponding decision was taken at a meeting of the Commission on Housing Provision for Orphans in Lviv Region.

Members of the commission considered three proposals from territorial communities – Mykolaiv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zolochiv. This concerns co-financing the purchase of housing under the “Regional Programme for the Social Protection of Children in Lviv Region for 2021–2026”.

According to information presented at the meeting, all three flats are in satisfactory condition, equipped with the necessary furniture and appliances, and have basic conditions for comfortable living.

The purchase of the housing is expected to be funded with 1 355 960 UAH from the regional budget and 2 449 110 UAH from community budgets.

“We must take a very responsible approach to what we do, especially when it comes to budget funds and purchasing housing for orphans. It is better not to buy housing in haste than to provide a child with unsuitable accommodation. As a matter of principle, we do not allow situations where someone tries to profit from such programmes or neglect children's comfort. If we do something together, then we do it together: the regional military administration, the regional council and the territorial community. Our task is to provide children with quality housing and to use budget funds efficiently and for their intended purpose,” – Ivan Sobko

During the commission meeting, the criteria for selecting flats purchased with budget funds were discussed in detail. It was stressed that what matters is not only the price of the property, but above all its quality, safety and suitability for children's permanent residence.

The location of the housing is considered separately. Preference is given to flats located close to educational institutions, medical facilities, shops and convenient transport routes. This approach is intended to ensure that children have appropriate conditions for learning, development and integration into the community.
