In late August, Naftogaz Teplo (part of Naftogaz Group) and Lviv Polytechnic National University signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The purpose of the memorandum is to promote the development of professional technical education to provide qualified personnel for the fuel and energy industry and to ensure a qualitative transformation of Ukraine’s energy system.
During the signing of the agreement, Oleh Matviikiv, First Vice-Rector of Lviv Polytechnic, and Vitalii Mykhailo, CEO of Naftogaz Teplo, discussed common needs and expressed their hope for close and mutually beneficial cooperation.
“The energy sector is facing serious challenges today that require new skills and approaches. The partnership with Lviv Polytechnic will help us to secure professional support in upgrading the skills of our employees and in training young professionals, who are now in great need in the industry. We are always ready to provide them with our production sites to gain practical experience and will be glad to have them in our team,” comments Vitaliy Mykhailo, CEO of Naftogaz Teplo.
“For many decades, Lviv Polytechnic has been specialising in training qualified technical specialists who join the boards of leading energy companies. I am confident that together we will be able to achieve the key goal of providing the Ukrainian energy sector with professional staff whose knowledge and skills meet the current needs of the industry,” said Oleh Matviykiv, First Vice-Rector of Lviv Polytechnic.
The main areas of work under the memorandum include improving the system of training and retraining of personnel in line with the development of the energy sector, updating technical education standards to meet the requirements of the labour market, internships and practical training for students at the enterprise, creating a network of training and practical centres, etc.
The development of in-house personnel and recruitment of new specialists with the assistance of specialised educational institutions is one of the important conditions for ensuring the stable development of the energy sector.
