On the occasion of the professional holiday, 55 best teachers were awarded today in Lviv. Employees of school, preschool, after-school and art institutions received thanks and prizes of eight thousand hryvnias.
“I always remember my two teachers who were demanding and creative. They were a mathematics teacher and a literature teacher. As a child, I may not have understood them very well, but now their science and approaches resonate a lot in life.
Each of you is personally responsible for the child’s development, because each child is plasticine in your hands. You can guide her and help her, and that is your great strength. The best have gathered here today and I am glad that I have the honor to congratulate you on your professional holiday. Thank you for your work and I wish you inspiration to love, create and inspire our children,” said the mayor of Lviv.
“Today we want to thank you, because each of you introduces our children to something unique, interesting and new in life. In fact, the main task of a teacher is to surprise children. We cannot force anyone to learn anything, but we can create the conditions for children to want to take this knowledge. And this is possible only when you surprise and interest them every day. Therefore, we thank you for the fact that, coming to your classes, you give children this miracle and give them a part of yourself,” added Andriy Zakaliuk, head of the Lviv Education Department.
By the way, 53 teachers received thanks and awards for their significant contribution to the development of student youth, and two female directors were awarded the Golden Coat of Arms of the City of Lviv. One of them was Lydia Andrushko, the director of the “Svitanok” elementary school, who for many years has been introducing innovations in the city’s elementary education based on her experience in Canada and is involved in the development of innovations in the educational sector of Lviv.
“This award was a big surprise for me, but it is very nice to receive such a high distinction. I have been working in education for many years and I am convinced that recognition of teachers is very important and valuable. Many teachers received awards today and I am happy for them. Each of us had a favorite, special teacher who influenced our lives, so we all understand how important it is to thank teachers for these contributions,” Lidia Andrushko shared her impression.
