Practical Training for Rescuers at Lviv Tram Depot

Practical training sessions have commenced at the Lvivelctrotrans tram depot for fourth-year students from the Lviv State University of Life Safety.

As part of the ‘Fire Tactics’ discipline, future rescuers are honing their skills in conditions as close to reality as possible. Students, wearing protective gear, conduct practical exercises next to the fire engine on depot grounds. The training will continue until April and takes place directly at an operational infrastructure facility.

Each group undergoes a full cycle of preparation – from theoretical instruction to practical exercises in emergency response. The program covers key aspects of electrified transit safety. Cadets engage in operational-tactical studies of the site, become familiar with the purpose of production premises, and the location of fire hydrants and firefighting equipment.

Engineers from the Lvivelectrotrans rolling stock department provide insights into the construction of trams and trolleybuses, highlighting potentially hazardous nodes and high-voltage power cables. Additionally, during practical exercises, evacuation procedures are rehearsed, including the removal of carriages from the zone of a simulated fire and the use of towing means.

“We kept our promise and expanded our cooperation territorially. Now the plan for 2026 includes the tram depot as a full-fledged training ground. This practice is beneficial for both sides: the city receives rescuers who understand the specifics of electric transport, and we along with our colleagues gain confidence in professional assistance during emergencies,” noted representatives from Lvivlctrotrans.
