General secondary education institutions in Lviv region are continuing to implement the new stage of the school meals reform initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska. According to the Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, in 99% of schools in Lviv region pupils in Years 1–11 are already provided with free hot meals.
In the remaining educational institutions, tender procedures for organising catering are still under way. According to Maksym Kozytskyi, from 1 October they plan to provide hot meals to all schoolchildren in the region.
“In 99% of schools in Lviv region, pupils in Years 1–11 are already receiving free hot meals. In the rest, tender procedures are ongoing. From 1 October we will ensure that all schoolchildren in the region have hot meals. But feeding them is only half the job. Within the framework of the reform, attention is focused not only on accessibility, but also on quality and children’s taste preferences. In particular, an example of the implementation of new approaches to the menu is the work of the cooks at Starosilskyi Lyceum of the Davydiv community, where updated school meals standards are already being introduced.
