The Drohobych municipal territorial community has begun implementing the Programme of Social Support for Large Families, which provides for a payment of 100,000 hryvnias for the birth of a fourth and each subsequent child. The project was prepared by the Family and Youth Department of the Executive Committee of Drohobych City Council on the initiative of the Mayor, Taras Kuchma, and approved by a decision of the City Council session for 2026–2027.
The aim of the Programme is to improve the material well-being of community residents and support large families in which three children under the age of 18 are being brought up and a fourth or subsequent child is born. A one-off cash benefit of 100,000 hryvnias is provided from the city budget.
To receive the payment, one of the parents must apply to the Family and Youth Department of Drohobych City Council with an application. The application may be submitted within three months from the child’s date of birth after the Programme enters into force.
The right to assistance is granted to citizens of Ukraine, provided that the fourth and subsequent children are born in Ukraine, and all family members live and are registered within the Drohobych municipal territorial community for at least 12 months prior to the child’s birth. For internally displaced persons, it is stipulated that all family members must be registered as IDPs and reside in the community for at least 12 months before the child’s birth.
Among other conditions, the parents’ place of work must be within the Drohobych municipal territorial community. For unemployed parents, studies at institutions of vocational (vocational and technical), professional pre-higher or higher education located in the community are taken into account, as is registration with the Drohobych branch of the Lviv Regional Employment Centre, as well as being on maternity leave, provided that the last place of work or study was at educational institutions within the community.
It is also required that children from a large family under the age of 18 study at general secondary education institutions of Drohobych City Council and receive vocational, professional pre-higher or higher education at educational institutions located in the Drohobych community. A mandatory condition is that the large family must have been registered with the Family and Youth Department of the Executive Committee for at least 12 months prior to the child’s birth and must hold large family parent and child certificates.
