A free short-term course in the sewing profession has been launched in Lviv. The training will last four weeks, after which participants will be able to obtain the qualification “Seamstress, Grade 2”. Classes are scheduled to begin on 10 August.
Residents of the Lviv community, internally displaced persons, veterans, as well as anyone who has lost their job because of the war or other life circumstances, or wishes to change profession, are invited to take part.
During the course, participants will work with modern sewing equipment, study basic technologies for the production of garments and acquire the practical skills needed for employment in the light industry sector. Classes will be held five days a week for 5–6 hours a day.
Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates will receive a state-recognised certificate confirming the qualification “Seamstress, Grade 2”.
“We run adult education courses on an ongoing basis. Depending on the opportunities provided by partners and donors, we organise various programmes. These short-term courses last about a month and enable people to quickly gain a new profession and return to the labour market. After completing the course, participants receive an appropriate certificate and can find employment in light industry enterprises,” said Bohdan Ivanus.
The course is organised with the support of the REMARKET project, TVET component, in cooperation with the public organisation ‘Educational and Production Cluster’ and the Lviv Vocational College of Modelling and Restaurant Business. Places are limited, so advance registration is required.
The REMARKET project is a three-year initiative implemented by Caritas Ukraine in partnership with Caritas Schweiz, Caritas-Spes Ukraine and Spark.
