A new mannequin simulating the condition of a cancer patient has appeared at the Lviv Medical College. This innovative equipment became available thanks to the communal establishment of the Lviv Regional Council, as reported on Facebook.
The mannequin is noted for its anatomically accurate airways, allowing for endotracheal intubation and artificial lung ventilation. Its realistic chest can rise and fall during ventilation.
The model’s features allow for practising needle decompression, urinary catheter insertion, and visible scars at catheterisation sites enhance its realism. The mannequin exhibits traits of a patient battling cancer, enabling students to practise complex clinical skills in conditions close to real life.
It is worth noting that in February 2025, the college opened the simulation centre MedLeV, where students can learn and practise clinical scenarios according to European standards.
