The Department of Sports together with the Department of Education of Lviv will create sports school leagues – sports competitions developed in accordance with the world and European experience of the functioning of similar events.
The goal of such leagues is to increase the number of schoolchildren who play sports on a regular basis and lead a healthy lifestyle.
Lviv school sports leagues of various sports will be held annually among Lviv schoolchildren from October 15 to May 15. The first tournaments are planned to be held in January 2023.
The competition will consist of three stages.
- Stage 1 (school) – formation of national teams of schools in certain sports.
- Stage 2 (district) – determination of the winner of the district competitions, who receives an automatic pass to the next stage.
- Stage 3 (city/final stage) – determination of the champion and prize-winners of each individual league.
Already this school year, they plan to hold school leagues in three sports: futsal, basketball and volleyball.
To make the competition more spectacular and interesting, logos and original cups with an individual design will be created for each league. These trophies will become transitional. The winner of the current season will own them until the final of the next one.
Also, each team will receive its own emblem, which will identify the team among all other participants. Children will choose the logo of their educational institution together with their mentors – teachers who will represent their team at the competition.
A digital process will be implemented in the system of school leagues. The preparation and implementation will be covered on the developed information platform “Lviv Sports School Leagues”. This will greatly simplify and facilitate organizational moments.
