Traffic to be changed at Kozelnytska–Franka roundabout in Lviv and accessible bus stop to be installed

In Lviv, at the roundabout where Kozelnytska Street meets Ivana Franka Street, the traffic management will be changed and an accessible public transport stop will be installed in the direction of Ivana Franka Street. The works are being carried out on the instructions of the Sykhiv District Administration, co-financed by the Ukrainian Catholic University.

According to the Sykhiv District Administration, previously vehicles travelling from Ivana Franka Street to Kozelnytska Street or Panasa Myrnoho Street were forced to enter the roundabout. This complicated traffic and required additional manoeuvres from drivers.

Once the new layout is introduced, vehicles will be able to cross the junction without entering the roundabout. The roundabout will remain, but it will be used only for access to the car park and for turning vehicles around. The decision to change the traffic management was approved by the Patrol Police of Lviv Region.

The district administration notes that the updated layout should simplify driving, make it clearer for motorists, improve safety on this section and enhance conditions for public transport operations and passenger comfort.

The old road markings have already been removed. Next week, new markings will be applied at the junction and updated road signs will be installed.

In parallel, work is under way to upgrade the public transport stop in the direction of Ivana Franka Street. It has already been moved back a few metres and is now being adapted to accessibility requirements: lowered kerbs are planned at crossing points and a raised boarding platform. This should make it easier for people who use wheelchairs, parents with pushchairs and other residents with limited mobility to use public transport.
