Today, during a meeting, the head of the education department, Ihor Homonko, said that this year 8,576 schoolchildren started school, which is 656 students and 16 classes less than in the previous school year.

The situation in the field of preschool education is also difficult, as today 2,151 children are registered in kindergartens, which is 205 fewer than last year.
This year, 68 groups were opened in preschool education institutions, compared to 70 last year.
In view of these figures, Mayor Andriy Zalivskyi instructed the Education Department to conduct a detailed analysis and make forecasts of the number of children for the next academic year in order to develop a further action plan to optimise the network of educational institutions.
