In Lviv, for over 17 years, elders have been celebrated with financial assistance.
The Lviv City Council press service reports that centenarians, who celebrate 100 years, receive a one-time aid of 10,000 hryvnias. They are also presented with a commemorative coin and a greeting letter from the mayor. People aged over 101 receive 10,000 hryvnias annually on their birthday. “We appeal to everyone: if you know an elder, please let us know,” stated Tetiana Kolesnyk, head of the Lviv City Council’s social protection department.
To receive assistance, it is necessary to contact the district social protection department at the place of registration. Contacts of various departments are available to citizens in the city.
Last year, 45 centenarians aged 100 and above were congratulated. This year, already 16 community residents with a centennial birthday have celebrated.
