On January 1, Lviv region will mark the 117th anniversary of the birth of Stepan Bandera, head of the OUN Directorate and ideologist of Ukrainian nationalism.
In Lviv, commemorative events will take place, including at 14:00 near the Stepan Bandera monument, where flowers will be laid and a prayer for Ukraine will be offered. Representatives of the government, public, and residents of the city will join the commemoration.
“He lived in a time when the Ukrainian people did not have their own state and dedicated his life to the liberation movement. For his beliefs, Stepan Bandera suffered imprisonment and persecution, but he never abandoned the idea of an independent Ukraine. For many, he embodies the aspiration for freedom and national dignity,” said Yuriy Gorun, Director of Communications and Internal Policy Department of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
We invite residents and guests of Lviv region to join the events and together duly honor the memory of one of the symbols of the Ukrainian liberation movement.
