Lviv Lions in Front of the Town Hall Dressed in Embroidered Shirts

On the occasion of World Vyshyvanka Day in Lviv, lions in front of the city Town Hall were traditionally dressed in embroidered shirts. This event has become a tradition supported for over a decade. Embroidered shirts symbolise the unity and national heritage of Ukrainians.

This year, the focus is on supporting historical identity while facing modern challenges. The embroidered shirts for the lions were made and presented by TM ‘Skyba’ specifically for this event. In addition to the embroidered shirts, the lions have other costumes used on different days of the celebration, highlighting the uniqueness of this tradition.

A ceremony also took place in the “Na Valakh” park, featuring a bandurist quartet performance, with the Deputy Mayor of Lviv, Iryna Kulynych, representing the city. This time, the World Vyshyvanka Day celebration is dedicated to preserving Ukrainian cultural heritage amid the war.
