In this way, the Day of the State Flag was solemnly celebrated in the Lviv Region.
Today, August 23, Ukraine celebrates National Flag Day. On this occasion, celebrations were held near the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Pyotr Sagaidachny.
The event began with a minute of silence in memory of all those who gave their lives in the struggle for the freedom and independence of Ukraine. The leadership of the region and city, military personnel, and the public took part in the event.
Near the National Academy there is a flagpole more than 50 meters high, on which a twelve-meter Ukrainian flag is flying today. The head of the region Maksym Kozytskyi gave the order to solemnly raise one of the main symbols of Ukrainian statehood – the State Flag of Ukraine.
“The flag is a symbol of our country’s independence and struggle. Under the blue-yellow flag, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are winning over every piece of our land and expelling the occupiers. Under these same colors, our diplomats at the international level prove our indomitability to the whole world. Our citizens in the temporarily occupied territories hide the flag underground in order to proudly meet our soldiers with it later. It is more than just a Flag, it is our history, our struggle, our pride. We celebrate the Day of the National Flag and remember, thanks to whom we have today,” emphasized the head of Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi.
After that, they presented the battle flags of the 80th separate amphibious assault brigade, the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo, the 103rd and 125th Brigades of the TrO Forces, the 45th Separate Artillery Brigade, the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, the 12th Army Aviation Brigade named after Army General Viktor Pavlenko, the 16th Separate Army Aviation Brigade “Brody “.
