Sokal Celebrated the Day of the National Flag of Ukraine

Sokal residents and guests of the city solemnly celebrated the Day of the National Flag of Ukraine.

Attendees sang the anthem, and prayers for Ukraine were offered by priests Yaroslav Kashchuk, Mykhailo Nazar, and Volodymyr Zharskyi. The National Flag was ceremoniously raised. Sokal Mayor Serhiy Kasian and Valeriy Duhelniy, head of the Udachne settlement military administration of Donetsk region, congratulated everyone on the Day of the National Flag. Children from the Udachne community are in Sokal as part of the national project “Shoulder to Shoulder”.

Patriotic original poems were recited by Mariya Yevtushok. During the event, attendees viewed an exhibition of battle flags from military units and volunteers. Each flag has its own history – the history of the brigade, the army. Presenter Diana Bondarchuk read out the list of brigades.

Relatives of missing and captive defenders unfurled the Banner of Hope. Solomiya Lukovetska, the author of the YouTube channel “Find and Return”, noted that there is an ongoing national campaign “Towel of Hope”, which brings together families of Ukrainian soldiers who are in Russian captivity or are considered missing. It was initiated by public organizations “Women of the Tribe”, which includes the associations “Women TRO”, “Women of the Armed Forces”, and NGO “Born Free 2024”. Sokal residents can also participate in it by embroidering a towel in the parish house of the Cathedral of St. Apostle Peter and Paul in Sokal.
