
On 14th May in Drohobych, commemorative events will be held to mark the 90th anniversary of the birth of Bishop Yulian Voronovskyi. The event will be attended by the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, who along with the clergy will honour the memory of this distinguished leader.
Considering the scale of the event, there will be temporary road closures on many streets in the city to ensure safety and convenience of movement. Residents and visitors are advised to plan their routes taking these restrictions into account.
The closures will occur on the following sections:
- Danila Halytskoho Street — from the roundabout to the “Sil” shopping centre
- Boryslavska Street — from the Church of the Holy Trinity to the roundabout
- Truskavetska Street — from the Church of the Holy Trinity to Zavallya Street
- area of School No. 3 (Shopen Street) access from Truskavetska Street
- Ivana Franka Street — from the intersection with Ostapa Nyzhankivskoho Street to the Christian Memorial Sign
Access will also be restricted to car parks near the seminary and Ukrtelecom (Danila Halytskoho Street, 21).
Programme of events: 09:00 — naming of Drohobych Gymnasium No. 14 after Bishop Yulian; 10:30 — memorial liturgy at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity; 16:00 — commemorative academy at the Ivan Franko National House featuring the cantata “David’s Psalms”.
The organisers invite everyone to join in communal prayer and pay tribute to the memory of Bishop Yulian.
