Cultural workers and folk art masters were congratulated on their professional holiday in Drohobych

On Saturday, 9 November, the All-Ukrainian Day of Cultural Workers and Masters of Folk Art will be celebrated. This is a professional holiday for everyone who works in the cultural and artistic field and demonstrates the beauty and richness of Ukrainian culture to the world.

Today, on the occasion of the professional holiday, cultural workers, creative and artistic groups and ensembles, heads of folk houses, libraries, teachers of art schools and community colleges, as well as managers and representatives of the Drohobychchyna Museum and the Naguyevychi State Historical and Cultural Reserve were honoured in Drohobych.

The award ceremony took place at the Ivan Franko People’s House.

Taras Kuchma, Mayor of Drohobych, welcomed the audience and thanked all the cultural and artistic workers for their invaluable contribution to preserving the national identity of our people.

Unfortunately, the world is filled with wars because of the lack of culture and education among people. Because people who value the traditions, language and culture of their people will always respect other peoples and never show aggression. That is why I firmly believe that culture should always be appreciated. It is culture that helps us to preserve our national identity and demonstrate the wealth of our people. I thank you for your work and for bringing the beauty and uniqueness of our nation to the world in such a difficult time,” Taras Kuchma said,.

The head of the community presented letters of gratitude to the heads of creative and artistic groups, heads of the People’s Houses of Drohobych and Stebnyk, representatives of the Department of Culture and Tourism Development and its head Volodymyr Khanas for their selfless work, development of culture and art in the community and implementation of important events and charitable initiatives. He also presented letters of appreciation from the Ivan Franko International Foundation.

On the occasion of the professional holiday of cultural workers, the event was attended by a deputy of the Lviv Regional Council, Serhiy Olenych, who presented the representatives of the cultural and artistic sphere of the community with letters of appreciation from the regional council.

“You have a great mission to develop, preserve, and sometimes even restore. Drohobych is a city with glorious traditions, a number of cultural centres, art educational institutions and powerful creative teams. I thank you not only for your contribution to the development of culture, but also for bringing this culture far beyond the borders of Ukraine. I wish you filled halls and grateful audiences”, – wished Sergiy Olenych.

The cultural representatives were also congratulated by the Department of Culture, Nationalities and Religions of Lviv Regional State Administration, presented by the Deputy Mayor for Humanitarian and Social Relations Yuriy Kushlyk.

The last few years in Ukraine have been very difficult. It would seem that they were not conducive to the development of culture. But we see that it is in these years that our culture is hardened the most. Now our city has new residents, and we feel the value of our culture even more, because we see how enthusiastically it is received by new viewers. I thank everyone who contributes to the development of our culture. Thank you for the warmth that you give to people with your creativity,” , Yuriy Kushlyk emphasised.

In addition to the congratulatory speeches of the officials, students of the Vasyl Barvinsky Drohobych Music College congratulated the cultural representatives on their professional holiday and presented vocal performances to the audience.

At the end of the event, Volodymyr Khanas, Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism Development, addressed his colleagues and thanked them for their sacrificial and dedicated work.

“All the projects and cultural events organised by our teams give us hope for life and a better future. Culture is the driving force behind our resilience and belief in victory. Today we celebrate our professional holiday on the day of the Archangel Michael, because cultural workers are also guardian angels who protect our traditions, our culture, our sacred art in order to pass all this wealth on to future generations,”, said Volodymyr Khanas.

The head of the department also thanked the people who support the cultural and artistic sector of the community and join the events as patrons. Among them are deputies Serhii Olenych, Roman Beizyk, Marta Slotylo, Iryna Voloshyn, entrepreneur Roman Mul and director of the Drohobych ATP Myroslav Luzhetskyi.
