In Lviv, on the occasion of the joyous holiday of Christ’s Resurrection, events were organised for people in difficult circumstances. On 12 April, the Department of Social Protection of the Lviv City Council, together with the Ukrainian Catholic University, hosted an Easter Breakfast for 175 people.
The celebration began with a joint prayer and the blessing of the food, after which attendees enjoyed Easter dishes. The menu included Easter cakes, eggs, sausages, and meat. Mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, and Deputy Mayor for Humanitarian Affairs, Iryna Kulyinych, also participated in the event.
Easter is a holiday of joy and triumph. On such a day, it is important for everyone to feel this joy; by supporting one another, we create unity, noted Iryna Kulyinych.
This tradition has lasted for over 18 years, organised by the Lviv City Council in conjunction with churches and other organisations. This year, from 1 to 12 April, food packages were distributed to 1,600 people in need of support.
Public organisations also participated in the festive events: the NGO ‘KorpoRation of Kind Deeds’ organised refreshments in Levandivka Park, and the NGO ‘Where Hope Lives’ held an event in the park near the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin. Additionally, the Salesian Fathers delivered Easter packages to internally displaced persons in the Centre’s shelters.
