As the LMR street infrastructure department said, at the event, previously developed scenarios for increasing the attractiveness of Sichovyh Striltsiv Street and two neighboring streets – Kopernyk and Doroshenko – will be presented. In addition, visitors themselves will be able to design the street as they imagine it in the future.

Those willing will be offered to “feel” the accessibility of street space by overcoming obstacles in a wheelchair, crutches or “being” blind.

You can also play badminton or table tennis, try your hand at fencing or street chess at certain locations. Play board games and hear useful life hacks from cyclists.

The organizers note that by turning this part of the street into a pedestrian street for one day, they aim to demonstrate that it can be used not only as a parking lot for cars, but can be comfortable for all road users.

“By temporarily turning it into a pedestrian street that connects two already pedestrian streets – Kryva Lypa and Kurbas roads – with two universities and a park, we want to show that this part can be used not only as a parking lot for several dozen cars.

Because the actual traffic flow here is insignificant and can be redirected to the nearby Kostyushka and Doroshenko streets. On the other hand, there is a lot of pedestrian traffic here, during breaks there are many students.

Last Saturday, during the workshop, the participants, among whom were experts in the field of transport, urban planning and architecture, active residents, formulated the main idea of the street as a place of convenient transit for everyone. And as early as tomorrow, we will try to increase the comfort of movement on the street for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport with temporary means. Because, let me remind you, there is a trolleybus line here, which is necessary for the functioning of the 33rd trolleybus route,” said Pavlo Syrvatka, head of the street infrastructure department of the LMR.
