On January 14, the first prayer breakfast in Sokal was held, organized by the “Caritas-Sokal” charity foundation, “New Breath” foundation, and the Sokal City Council. The event brought together representatives of various denominations, servicemen, educators, medical workers, volunteers, entrepreneurs, and families of fallen and captive heroes.
The primary goal of the event was to unite people from different social and religious backgrounds in a shared prayer for Ukraine’s unity, the courage of its defenders, and the achievement of victory. The event was hosted by Ukrainian National Artist Oksana Bilozir.
Event Highlights
The prayer breakfast began with a blessing from Bishop Petro Loza, a joint recitation of the “Our Father” prayer, and a moment of silence for fallen soldiers.
Sokal Mayor Serhiy Kasian addressed the audience:
“Prayer is always needed, especially during wartime. For believers, prayer is a weapon. Today’s event aims to unite clergy, families of Heroes, soldiers, politicians, volunteers, medical workers, educators, and entrepreneurs. Despite differing opinions, we gather here for a common goal – Ukraine’s victory. The strength of the army lies not only in tanks or bullets but in divine power. Only God can restrain evil and support our people.”
During the event, prayers were offered for Ukraine’s defenders, peace, victory, and the country’s restoration. The program featured a blend of spiritual speeches, musical performances, and inspirational talks that filled attendees with faith and hope.
Charity Efforts
The event was made possible through sponsorship, and attendees were invited to contribute donations to fund drones and electronic warfare systems (EWS) for the Ukrainian military.
Organizers hope the prayer breakfast will become a tradition, uniting the community in prayers for victory, peace, and the welfare of Ukraine.
