The Drohobych saltworks is considered the oldest operating industrial enterprise in Ukraine. Even today, salt is produced here using a traditional technology that has been passed down from generation to generation.
The enterprise adheres to age-old methods of salt production: brine is evaporated in special vats, and the finished salt, known as Drohobych’s “white gold”, is used in everyday life and promoted as part of the region’s industrial heritage.
The video report, published by the Department of Communications and Internal Policy of the Lviv Regional State Administration, explains the specific features of the saltworks’ operation, the process of extracting salt and the importance of this site as a unique monument of industrial history.
