Lviv Region has taken first place in Ukraine for the number of tourist overnight stays with payment of the tourist tax over the first six months of 2026. The region recorded 1,099,997 such overnight stays, securing its leadership in the national ranking.
Compared with the same period in 2025, this figure increased by 8.4%. Across the country as a whole, more than 4.8 million overnight stays with payment of the tourist tax were recorded over the half-year, with 71% of them accounted for by just the five most popular regions.
By municipality, the Lviv municipality ranked second in Ukraine with 238,324 tourist overnight stays. The Truskavets municipality came fourth (155,302 overnight stays), and the Skhidnytsia municipality sixth (89,258 overnight stays). Skhidnytsia showed a 12.2% increase in the number of overnight stays, and Truskavets 8.6%.
In Lviv, 26,393 overnight stays by foreign tourists were recorded over the quarter. This is 55.9% more than in the same period last year, meaning the city was second only to the capital, Kyiv, on this indicator.
The region also ranked first in Ukraine for growth in the number of establishments paying the tourist tax. Over the quarter, their number increased by 63, including 46 new accommodation establishments in Lviv and 11 in Truskavets.
