Lviv Region received UAH 8.9 million in tourist tax in July 2026. In total, since the beginning of the year, UAH 42.9 million has been transferred to local community budgets, which is over UAH 9.6 million, or 29%, more than in the same period of 2025. This was reported during the monthly tourism digest at the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
The largest July revenues were generated by the Lviv community – over UAH 5.6 million. Next in terms of tax receipts are the Truskavets community with more than UAH 1.1 million, Skhidnytsia – over UAH 947,000, Morshyn – almost UAH 162,000 and Sokilnyky, where more than UAH 125,000 was collected.
The summer season has also had a positive impact on visitor numbers at the region’s tourist sites. In July, the largest number of travellers was received by the Skole Beskids National Nature Park – 67,580 people. The Tustan Nature Reserve was visited by 27,390 people, the Drohobychchyna Museum – almost 4,000, the Drohobych Town Hall – 3,450 people, and the Skole Region Museum – 2,715 visitors. Other popular destinations include the Domazhyr Bear Sanctuary, the Nahuievychi and Ancient Zvenyhorod reserves, the Yavoriv National Nature Park and the Johann Zeh Pharmacy Museum.
According to Maryana Kuksa, Deputy Director of the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Lviv Region continues to sustain a stable level of interest from domestic tourists in its natural, cultural and historical attractions, and the development of the sector is important for the economic resilience of communities and small businesses.
Roman Khimyak, Director of the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, stressed that tourism in the region is increasingly focused on community development and supporting local initiatives. He spoke about the preparation of the “Campsites of Lviv Region” project, which envisages the creation of several camping locations in different parts of the region. The first campsite is planned to be set up in the Dubravka tract within the Skole Beskids National Nature Park, and a campsite in Urych near Tustan is also being explored.
A separate section of the digest was devoted to the development of the Skole Beskids National Nature Park. Nineteen tourist routes with a total length of about 146 km have been laid out across the park. Among the most famous locations are the Kamianka waterfall, Zhuravlyne Lake, Mount Parashka, ecological and educational trails and viewing platforms.
Vasyl Pryndak, Director of the Skole Beskids National Nature Park, said that the park, together with communities and partners, continues to develop its tourism and recreational infrastructure. With the support of the Frankfurt Zoological Society, a number of projects are being implemented to improve routes, conserve biodiversity, promote environmental education and showcase the natural heritage of the Carpathians.
One of the key areas of this cooperation is the revitalisation of the Hredel Barons’ Palace in Skole. In 2024, the roof of the building was restored using funds from private donors raised by the Frankfurt Zoological Society. In August 2026, the park plans to open the Skole Beskids National Nature Park Visitor Centre – the “Hredel Lounge” – in the palace. The new space will serve as a venue for educational events and activities dedicated to the natural and cultural heritage of the Carpathians, conservation initiatives and a responsible attitude towards the environment.
Programmes for veterans, service personnel and their families remain an important component of tourism policy. As part of the “Therapy by Travel” project, six trips took place in July with the participation of around 150 people. Activities included fishing, a trip to Tustan during the “Tu Stan” festival, a retreat on Play, a visit to the “U dvorі” ethnocomplex, and a three-day GorganyCAMP on the Lysytsia meadow.
In August, the Beskydy Trail 2026 is scheduled to take place in the Skole area – a trail race that this year is dedicated to veterans. The race is set to start on 22 August. Participants will be able to choose one of the distances: 31 km, 16.8 km, 6.8 km or 1.7 km. There will also be a children’s race and an online format, and participation will be free of charge for veterans.
Thus, the summer tourist season in Lviv Region combines the growth of tourist flows and revenues to local budgets with the development of natural and cultural sites, the creation of new services, including campsites, and support for veterans through special travel programmes and sporting events.
